Submission Guidelines

In short, to be published, submissions must:

1. Actually be secrets, not just random statements.
2. Contain five distinctly different secrets.
3. Be addressed to the audience, not some random person.
4. Not be abusive to other posters.

If you meet these guidelines and I find your secrets interesting, I will post them regardless of their content. Read on for the original post & explanations of these guidelines.


Five Secrets has recently received a few submissions that do not fit the submission guidelines and which, regrettably, will not be posted.

Please keep in mind that submissions must be composed of secrets. Statements addressed to third parties do not qualify because they do not tell the vast majority of the reading audience anything. For example:

Unacceptable:

• I secretly love you.
• I have been thinking about you a lot lately.

Acceptable:

• I am secretly in love with my 70-year-old biology teacher. 
• I had a one night stand with a girl named Tammy six years ago and I can't stop thinking about her.

Secondly, each submission must contain at least five secrets, submissions that contain less than five secrets will be automatically rejected. We received a very interesting secret recently, but as it was only one, it was unpublishable. You know who you are (and five secrets has no idea!) so if you would like, please feel free to resubmit.

If you have submitted secrets that remained unpublished after an update, they were likely deemed unacceptable.

So that's it -- make sure you're submitting actual secrets, and make sure there are five of them. If you want to submit more than five, feel free to submit twice, or three times, or a hundred times. Five Secrets does not track IP addresses or any other form of identifying information from our visitors, so let 'em rip! Remember, the more often we receive submissions, the more often we'll be able to post!
